Based on the Academy Award-winning short film, Hair Love, Young Love revolves around Stephen, an African-American father, and his daughter Zuri. Actor Issa Rae, known for her role as an online hair “vlogger,” voices Zuri’s mother, while Matthew A. Cherry takes on the role of Stephen. Cherry has also directed the short film along with Bruce W. Smith and Everett Downing Jr.

Young Love is created by Cherry, who will also serve as the executive producer, alongside Carl Jones. The series boasts executive producers Karen Rupert Toliver and Monica A. Young from Blue Key’s Entertainment, along with Carl Reed and David Steward II of Lion Forge Animation.
