Footage of a junior Parramatta player scoring a runaway 100m try has become an internet sensation after clocking more than 135 million views worldwide.

The clip is of Viliotu Masila’s storming run off the opening play of the game for the Merrylands Rams in the Parramatta Junior Leagues under-18 competition last season.
From the kick-off, Masila shrugged off at least 10 opponents on a memorable run to the tryline – and was then mobbed by team-mates.

The Eels originally posted the clip to TikTok last May. That original clip has been viewed more than seven million times.
It was also picked up by YouTube channel Highlight Reel Sports, where it has racked up another 95 million views.
It has also been picked up by similar sports accounts in the US and Europe.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, it won try of the year at the Parramatta Junior League’s 2023 awards night.
Several comments suggested Masila should be scouted for an NFL contract, while others praised the courage shown by some defenders in trying to tackle Masila despite a significant size difference.
