15 hurt after suspected drunk driver crashes into MTA bus in Brooklyn

At least 15 people were injured when a suspected drunk driver smashed into a minivan in a chain-reaction crash in Brooklyn that involved an MTA bus, according to police.

A 60-year-old man was driving a 2008 red Lexus RX350 southbound on Pennsylvania Avenue in East New York around 4:30 p.m. when he struck a 2011 Honda minivan with four people inside while trying to turn left on Livonia Avenue, police said.

He then crashed into a parked car before the Lexus was sideswiped by an MTA B20 bus traveling northbound on Pennsylvania Avenue, according to police and sources familiar with the incident.

The Lexus driver fled the scene but was nabbed by police a few blocks away, sources said.

He was taken into custody under suspicion of driving while intoxicated, according to police. He had not been charged as of 9:30 p.m.

Ten people on the bus were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, cops said. Sources said the female bus driver was among those hurt.

The occupants of the minivan, a 64-year-old man, a 34-year-old woman, an 18-year-old woman and a 3-year-old boy were taken to Kings County Hospital with minor injuries.

The Lexus driver also suffered minor injuries and was taken to Brookdale Hospital.
