David “Kochie” Koch might be in for a rude shock at television’s night of nights on Sunday.
2023 Logies host Sam Pang has revealed the former Sunrise host will be on the receiving end of his sometimes harsh humour during the opening monologue.
Pang, 49, also revealed that comedian – and Gold Logie nominee – Hamish Blake, as well as the cast of Married At First Sight may also cop some flak.
“They’ll be respectfully acknowledged,” he said of the MAFS cast in an interview with News.com.
As for Kochie, Pang said: “He’s just retired after 21 years, so I’d like to pay a proper tribute to him.”
He also added, in reference to Blake: “He’s the reigning Gold Logie winner, so he’ll probably get a mention.”
Pang noted during the interview that many of his well-known friends told him to turn down the awards night hosting gig.
“I sought the counsel of some very close confidants,” he said.
“I spoke to Santo Cilauro, I spoke to Glenn Robbins, Rob Sitch, Kitty Flanagan … and they all said, ‘don’t do it!’ But I ran my own race and decided to do it anyway.”
Pang is best known for his regular stints on Have You Been Paying Attention? and The Front Bar.
The 63rd TV WEEK Logies will be held in Sydney this year for the first time since 1986.
They will air this Sunday July 30 on Channel 7 and 7Plus.
