Multiple people were injured after fleeing police in a vehicle, which crashed into a building in Hawthorne on Sunday morning, police said.
Officers responded to an assault around 9:38 a.m. in the area of 118th Street and Freeman Avenue, after a caller reported that someone in a Chevrolet Silverado pointed a gun at them, according to a news release from the Hawthorne Police Department.
When police arrived, one person left the Chevrolet and tried to run from officers but was stopped.

Officers pursued the Chevrolet until the driver lost control near the intersection of 116th Street and Hawthorne Boulevard, where it struck an unoccupied building in the 4400 block of 116th Street.
The truck sustained severe damage from the crash.
Officers detained two males who were able to exit the rear passenger seats on their own. Fire crews helped remove two females, who were trapped in the driver’s and front passenger seats.
Police didn’t specify the ages of any of those involved.
One male and two females were treated for serious injuries at a hospital and were reported to be stable, according to police.
Police recovered a firearm near the intersection of 118th Street and Birch Avenue. They are not searching for other involved parties and said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
