And services between Glasgow and other outlying stations have also been affected by the issue.

The rail operator confirmed that a “signalling fault” was to blame for the delays and revised train times.

It confirmed that some of the trains have been diverted to platform 4 which is not impacted by the fault.

ScotRail posted on social media platform X: “Due to a fault with the signalling system at Haymarket, train services running through this station may be subject to delays, alterations or cancellations.

“We’re diverting some services to platform 4 where we can as services can still run from there.”

It comes after emergency services locked down a train line in the Highlands.

Police and ambulance crews scattered to the line near Inverness station this morning following reports of a body on the tracks.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene, with cops confirming they have launched a probe to establish the circumstances leading up to the incident.
