NEW DELHI: The Bihar School Education Board (BSEB) is conducting the first BSEB Sakshamta Pariksha or Bihar Teacher Competency examination from today, February 26 to March 6, 2024. These competency tests are being conducted for local body teachers in Bihar.
The examination is being conducted in two shifts – the first shift is being held from 10 AM to 12:30 PM and the second shift from 3 PM to 5:30 PM.A total of 2,32,190 candidates have applied for the BSEB Teacher Competency Exam 2024.
What is the BSEB Teacher Competency Exam?
The BSEB Teacher Competency Exam is a mandatory test for teachers employed by local bodies in Bihar who wish to be considered for recruitment as government school teachers. This exam assesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities of teachers in various areas.
The BSEB Teacher Competency Exam is a computer-based test (CBT) of 2 hours and 30 minutes duration. The exam consists of 150 objective-type questions carrying a total of 150 marks. The questions are divided into three sections:

  • Child Development and Pedagogy (50 marks)
  • Subject Knowledge (75 marks)
  • Language Skills and Communication Skills (25 marks)
  • The passing marks for the exam are 40% for the unreserved category and 35% for the reserved categories.

To be eligible for the BSEB Teacher Competency Exam, candidates must:

  • Be employed as a primary, middle, secondary, or higher secondary teacher by local bodies in Bihar.
  • Possess the minimum educational qualifications required for the post they are applying for.

Application Fee
The application fee for General/BC/EWS candidates is Rs. 1100, and for SC/ST/PH candidates, it’s also Rs. 1100. Payment of the exam fee is accepted only through online modes such as Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking.
BSEB Sakshamta Pariksha 2024: Exam Pattern
The competency test consists of 150 objective questions, categorized according to the teacher’s class level. Teachers of classes 1 to 5 will encounter 30 questions in Part-1 (Language), 40 in Part-2 (General Studies), and 80 in Part-3 (General Subject). Similarly, teachers of classes 6 to 8 and 9 to 10 will find questions distributed across language, general studies, and related topics. For teachers of class 11 and 12, the distribution is 30 questions in Part-1 (Language), 40 in Part-2 (General Studies), and 80 in Part-3 (Related topics).
The qualification criteria apply to teachers and librarians in state schools appointed by local bodies. The examination fee for all categories is Rs 1100, and the test will be conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) with a duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes.
