“The Sopranos” star Drea de Matteo recently told DailyMail.com that she saved her house from going into foreclosure thanks to OnlyFans, which she turned to last year after her acting career stalled. She launched an account in August that fans could subscribe to for $15 a month.
“It saved us,” de Matteo said. “OnlyFans saved my life, 100 percent. I can’t believe I’m saying that, but it really did save us. Anybody that wants to condemn me and put me down, go for it. I just hope you never find yourself in the position I was in to take care of two little kids. It saved my home of many years that was very important to us. And beyond all that, it has given me enough money to start up and finance Ultrafree.”
Ultrafree is a streetwear brand that de Matteo started and owns. She said that prior to launching her OnlyFans accoun, she only had around $10 in her bank account. That number might stun fans considering de Matteo is an Emmy-winning actress and a veteran of “The Sopranos,” one of the most acclaimed and popular TV series of all time.
“They put me into foreclosure and my house had flooded, so I was trying to sell the house quickly. I wanted to try and sell it before they took it,” de Matteo continued. At the same time, I lost my mom, and my other mom, who has dementia, had run out of money for her caregiver. I didn’t know which way was up.’
She said that within “five minutes” of her starting her OnlyFans account she made enough money to “pay back Compass real estate, who kept the sale of my house.”
“I did it, but I didn’t want to do it,’ she admitted of joining OnlyFans. ‘I got a lot of heat for doing it and it went f*cking viral and people went nuts.”
Speaking to Fox News Digital last year, de Matteo explained that pivoting to OnlyFans came as a result of losing acting work over the last couple of years due to her stance against COVID vaccine mandates.
“I know some people have said some nasty things about me having joined OnlyFans,” de Matteo said at the time. “But, you know, the way we see it in this house is mommy’s a warrior, not accepting defeat…I figured, ‘OK, so everybody’s in their underwear and being sexy on Instagram and I don’t do that, but I can do that and get paid for it’…I don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner.”
According to de Matteo, she was forced to “switch careers and figure new things out because my own industry thinks I’m a savage” due to her beliefs against COVID vaccine mandates. She added, “I guess you could say I was a bad girl because I did not follow the rules a couple of years ago.”
De Matteo said her views resulted in her agent dropping her.
“People find that hard to believe that I was never really paid very much money for any of the jobs I’ve done,” de Matteo said. “People think I’m fucking made of gold, and I’m not. I’ve worked job to job. And I’ve turned down tons of jobs in the past just to be with my children because their dad’s on the road, and he’s not around as much.”
“I just don’t care. I don’t. I’d rather save my family than save face,” she added, noting that her daughters gave their blessings for her to launch an OnlyFans account.
