Kashmir school holiday 2024: The Kashmir Directorate of School Education has extended school holidays in the valleys owing to the persistent adverse weather conditions in the region. Schools in the valley were earlier scheduled to reopen on March 1, 2024, however according to various media reports, the Directorate of School Education released an order regarding the extension of break and commencement of classes from Monday i.e March 4, 2024 in the Kashmir Division.
According to the latest directive, both government and private schools in the Kashmir division will commence classes up to the higher secondary level from March 4, 2024. This decision follows guidance from the Meteorological Department, anticipating substantial snowfall in the valley. Students and parents are urged to stay connected with school authorities for any updates regarding school closures.
“In view of the Meteorological Department’s weather advisory predicting heavy snowfall in the valley, it is hereby ordered that classwork in all government and recognised private schools of the Kashmir Division up to the higher secondary level shall commence on March 4, 2024.” the Kashmir School Education Director said in an order, according to PTI.
The state meteorological centre in Srinagar previously forecasted widespread moderate rain and snow across most areas in Jammu and Kashmir until March 3. Heavy to very heavy snowfall is expected in some areas, especially in the higher reaches of North Kashmir, Central and South Kashmir, and the Pir Panjal range of the Jammu division on March 1 and 2, 2024.
