Noteworthy items from the Yankees’ Grapefruit League action on Wednesday:
Torres on tear
Gleyber Torres crushed his first home run of the spring, going 2-for-3 in the process and improving to 5-for-16 across six games.
Hitless parade
DJ LeMahieu (1-for-12 this spring) and Giancarlo Stanton (1-for-13) both went hitless in three at-bats, though Aaron Boone said he was not concerned about their starts to Grapefruit League play.
“I feel DJ looks really good. G., I feel like is not chasing or anything,” Boone said. “They’re very process-driven and want to work on particular things in a game, especially G.”
Caught my eye
Catcher Carlos Narvaez, who was added to the 40-man roster over the offseason, came off the bench Wednesday to belt an opposite-field home run.
He is part of the Yankees’ quality catching depth, with five backstops currently on the 40-man roster.
Thursday’s schedule
Luke Weaver will get the start against the Tigers at 6:35 p.m. at Steinbrenner Field.
