The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg is unimpressed with Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy for pushing White House Press Secretary Karine Jeane-Pierre this week on whether President Joe Biden will commit to a debate.
At a Wednesday White House briefing, Doocy asked Jeane-Pierre multiple times if Biden would commit to debate Donald Trump since they are now both the presumptive nominees for their parties. Jeane-Pierre referred Doocy to Biden’s campaign multiple times and eventually joked she was sounding like a “broken record” because he’d asked the same question “three, four, five different ways.”
Jeane-Pierre did not end up committing the president one way or the other, but did insist he would perform well if he did debate, something most of the View hosts agreed with on Thursday.
“Thank God she’s polite,” Goldberg said on Thursday after watching the clip of Doocy and Jeane-Pierre’s exchange.
“She’s getting better and better,” Sunny Hostin said of the press secretary.
Goldberg suggested Doocy asked his question with a “kind of sneer.” While the exchange was tense, it should be noted Doocy and Jeane-Pierre were both friendly and at one point shared in some laughter, along with the rest of the room, over a coughing fit interrupting Doocy’s questions.
“She maintained decorum, but I just — you know, I think this is what I’m talking about, with this kind of sneer, ‘so what’s he going to do?’ I mean, just ask the question, man!” Goldberg said. “Is he going to debate? She says ask the campaign, go to the campaign. What the hell!”
Alyssa Farah Griffin acknowledged Jeane-Pierre is safer staying away from such questions due to the Hatch Act.
“That’s not her job to tell you! Go to the campaign!” Goldberg said.
