Sanjay Leela Bhansali Launches Music Label With ‘Heeramandi’ Songs

MAKING MUSIC

Indian filmmaker and composer Sanjay Leela Bhansali has launched music label Bhansali Music with the soundtrack of Netflix series “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar.” The first song from the album, traditional composition “Sakal Ban,” with lyrics by Amir Khusro and sung by Raja Hasan, will be released on Saturday.

Via the label, the filmmaker will collaborate with musicians and artists to produce compositions for his films and shows and also independent albums.

With a cast that includes Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha and Sanjeeda Sheikh, “Heeramandi” is set in the midst of multiple power struggles in Heeramandi, Lahore (now part of Pakistan) and more generally in undivided, pre-independence India, where anti-colonial freedom movements were emerging.

Bhansali said: “Music brings me great joy and peace. It’s an integral part of my being. I am now launching my own music label Bhansali Music. I wish the audience to experience the same joy and spiritual connect that I feel when I listen to or create music.”

ASIAN PARTNERSHIP

17LIVE, a live streaming platform that operates in Japan and Taiwan, and Singapore-listed media and entertainment company mm2 Asia have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen and amplify entertainment offerings and production capabilities across Southeast Asia. The partnership will seek to find synergies in entertainment marketing and production-related activities in areas such as marketing of movies, collaboration between live streamers and mm2 movie projects as well as the production of long-form animation content leveraging 17LIVE’s proprietary “virtual liver” intellectual property.

In addition, 17LIVE will enhance its live streamer reward incentives on upcoming production projects. In turn, mm2 will gain access to a global talent pool. Together, the outfits plan to invest in entertainment content in Southeast Asia and provide additional platforms for 17LIVE to expand its offline streamer events, which have generated hundreds of thousands of attendees across Taiwan and Japan to the region.
