Artists to open their spaces for Stirling Open Art Studios event over next two weekends

Artists in the City of Stirling will open their homes and art studios in an art trail over the next two Sundays.

Stirling Open Art Studios first started 10 years ago with just five artists and has now grown to 18 artists at 11 locations in the City of Stirling.

Sculptor Richard Aitken will be one of the artists on show and said there would be a wide range of art, including jewellery and pottery.

Your local paper, whenever you want it.

“We’ve got painters, water painters, abstract artists, ceramicists, a gentleman who makes timber furniture and I do sculptures and metal wall art,” he said.

He said the event was an opportunity for the public to build a connection with the local art scene and meet the people behind them.

“People have opened their houses and studios for the public to wander in and check out all of the work that’s there,” Aitken said.

“You can talk to the artists and pick their brains or you can buy some of their artworks.

“We also get a lot of artists who come in and just want to chat and pick brains and seek out ideas.”
