WHO would you expect to see on a golf course?

Other golfers? Obviously. Punters walking their dog? Perhaps. A celebrity? On a rare occasion, maybe.

So imagine one punter’s amazement when he bumped into not one, not two but THREE Rangers stars during his round.

And it wasn’t just any old 18 holes either.

Indeed, he was playing the famous Old Course at St Andrews.

A delighted Gers fan shared images of his chance meeting with Jack Butland, Todd Cantwell and Scott Wright whilst out on the links.

The trio were in their club tracksuits and with the team playing Dundee tomorrow (just 25 minutes away), it’s possible they did a bit of sightseeing on the way to their hotel.

The fan was playing the revered Road Hole, the 17th hole on the course and one of the most testing at the Home of Golf when he noticed the players watching his swing.

The amazed supporter, named Robert, posted on Twitter (now X.com): “Playing the Old Course today, walks round the corner at the 17th, the Road Hole, and could not believe that these geezers are watching me.”

He also couldn’t resist asking the players a few pertinent questions.

In particular, he quizzed Cantwell about his fitness.

The midfield ace has been out injured recently but returned as a second half sub against Benfica on Thursday night.

But when he posed the question to Cantwell, Butland quickly fired a cheeky dig at his team mate before he had a chance to respond.

Robert detailed the back-and-forth to his followers, saying: “Asked Todd today are you fit and before he could reply Jack says ‘Mentally, never!'”

The Ibrox side were eliminated from the Europa League this week, going down 2-1 on aggregate to Portuguese giants Benfica in a narrow defeat.

Attention now turns back to Scottish Premiership duty and a trip to Dundee on Sunday.

Philippe Clement’s men can return to the top of the table and restore their two-point lead over Celtic with a win.

Their Old Firm rivals beat St Johnstone 3-1 to go a point clear on Saturday evening.
