Connie Ferguson confirms ‘Kings of Joburg’ season three

Generations: The Legacy actress Connie Ferguson has confirmed that Ferguson Films’ hit series Kings of Joburg season three is returning to Netflix.

CONNIE FERGUSON CONFIRMS SERIES RETURN

The producer-actress Connie Ferguson took to her Instagram on Monday, 1 April to confirm that Ferguson Films is shooting season three of Kings of Joburg.

She shared a message from Netflix which read: “Welcome to the start of production on Kings of Joburg S3!’ We’re so happy to be working with you!”

The Queen co-creator previously revealed that they dedicated Kings of Joburg to her late husband, Shona Ferguson and halted production.

“We lost him, so we paused everything. I didn’t even know whether I’d have the strength to continue with Kings of Jo’burg because it was a Sho project. He was so passionate about this baby. First of all, I didn’t wanna let him down, and I didn’t know if I would have the strength to do it without him because he was a big part of it.” she said in the interview.”

Ferguson also recently starred in Netflix’s The Heart of The Hunter, where she portrays a villain Molebogeng Kwena, a double agent in the intelligence agency.

The twisty spy-thriller is based on the novel by acclaimed author Deon Meyer and directed by the renowned Mandla Dube (Silverton Siege).

HER ROLE IN ‘KINGS OF JOBURG’

Connie Ferguson portrays Veronica Mosire alongside Zolisa Xaluva as Mo Mosire in Kings of Joburg.

Mo carries the dark family secret his on-screen brother Simon Masire (played by Shona Ferguson) carried in season one.

Feguson’s character disappeared from her family decades ago after she was sexually abused and travelled the world to escape her terrible past.

She returned at return at Mo and Phumzi’s (Cindy Mahlangu) wedding and surprises her family, who haven’t seen her in years.

It appears Ferguson will team up with showrunner Samad Davis in season three as she tagged him on her Instagram story on Monday.

The duo paid tribute to Shona Ferguson, who passed away in 2021 from COVID-19 after creating the hit series, Kings of Joburg.

She acts alongside Gomora’s Thembi Seete, The Queen’s Cindy Mahlangu, Nnekwa Tsajwa, Muvhango’s Buhle Samuels, Thapelo Mokoena, TK Sebothoma and Altovise Lawrence.

“The Masires, haunted by a supernatural family curse, find themselves tangled in a web of betrayal that threatens to destroy the family in this riveting new season.”

“The eight-part, action-drama series picks up from a successful first season which saw fragmented family structures, treacherous brotherhoods, and a deal with the devil”, reports The Citizen.

Ferguson also appeared as a Masire Mermaid, who tortured Simon Masire in season one before her role as Veronica in season two.
