Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly willing to loan out two of their academy graduates ahead of the next season.
Some changes are expected at the end of the season, which will affect players and coaching staff at Chiefs.
Chiefs find themselves languishing in eighth place in the DStv Premiership thus far, with the squad underperforming. The team has not fared much better in the cup competitions either. Under Molefi Ntseki, they were knocked out of both the MTN8 and Carling Knockout Cup. That prompted the Amakhosi management to relieve the former Bafana Bafana coach of his duties.
Duo found it tough breaking through at Chiefs
Chiefs then redeployed Cavin Johnson as their interim coach from his role overseeing the club’s academy. The club found themselves knocked out of the Nedbank Cup during his tenure. Under both coaches, two players that have not had a look in are midfielders Sabelo Radebe and Samkelo Radebe.
Radebe has found it tough to breakthrough at senior level. The current campaign being the former DStv Diski Challenge captain’s third full season as an outcast in the squad. Promoted under Gavin Hunt during the 2021/22 season, Radebe saw even his former DDC coach Arthur Zwane snub him. In the past two seasons, the playmaker has only made five appearances with the writing perhaps on the wall.
For Zwane, the numbers this season hardly support the possibility of him growing into a first team regular any time soon. In his breakthrough season last campaign, he made 12 league appearances, from the second half of the season. It was thought that his second campaign would see him become an even more integral part of the Chiefs season. However, under both ex-coach Ntseki it was clear to see he was not going to be a regular.
Now according to The Citizen Chiefs could loan Radebe and Zwane to get first team minutes next season.
Radebe and Zwane set for loan?
“These two boys (Radebe and Zwane) have struggled to break into the first team’s since they were promoted and for but they are the ones for the future for Chiefs. The club values both of them, but they will not get any better sitting on the bench hence a decision has been made to loan them out,” said the source to the same publication.
With the DStv Premiership reaching its final stretch, it will be interesting to see if Radebe or Zwane feature for Chiefs.
