WWD’s New Book ‘Black in Fashion’ Celebrates Black Designers, Models

Black designers, models and other fashion industry figures will take center stage in a new book that will be published by Union Square & Co. based on the archives of Fairchild Media Group, owner of Women’s Wear Daily. The book will be published Sept. 3.

Titled “Black in Fashion: 100 Years of Style, Influence & Culture,” the book was written by Tonya Blazio-Licorish and Tara Donaldson, and will feature more than 375 black-and-white and color photographs, illustrations and original articles on the designers, models, scene-makers and stylists who have shaped the fashion landscape over the past century. It also marks the first WWD book to be derived from the Fairchild Archives. WWD traces its history to 1910.

It also touches on the cultural style revolution sparked by celebrities such as Josephine Baker.
