Eligible candidates will be able to register on the IAF CDAC portal for AFCAT 2/2024 from 30th May 2024 onwards, through the official website at – afcat.cdac.in.The deadline for application submission is set for 28th June 2024. The selection process involves a rigorous assessment, including a written test, AFSB Test, and Medical Examination.
Successful candidates for the Air Force Common Admission Test-2024 (AFCAT 2 Exam) will be eligible for courses beginning in July 2025. Furthermore, they will be granted Short Service Commission (SSC), which will be a significant step forward in their careers with the Indian Air Force.
The vacancies for AFCAT 2 2024 include Short Service Commission (SSC) roles in the Flying Branch and Ground Duty branches, with both Technical and Non-Technical positions available, for a total of 304 openings.
AFCAT-2 2024 Eligibility criteria
Education Qualification
For the Flying Branch and Ground Duty (Non-technical) positions, candidates must have attained a minimum of 50% marks each in physics and mathematics at the 10+2 level, along with a three-year graduation degree or a BE/BTech degree with at least 60% from a recognized university.
For Ground Duty (Technical) in Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics) (AE(L)), applicants must have secured a minimum of 60% marks each in physics and mathematics at the 10+2 level, in addition to a degree in graduation/post-graduation in engineering and technology from a recognized university.
Age Limit
For the Flying Branch, candidates should be between 20 to 24 years old, with birthdates falling between 02/01/2001 to 01/01/2005. For Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) roles, the age range is 20 to 26 years, with birthdates ranging from 02/01/1999 to 01/01/2005.
Additionally, candidates must be Indian citizens under the Indian Citizenship Act of 1955. This criterion emphasises the fundamental requirement of national allegiance and reflects the Indian Air Force’s core values. Applicants must be unmarried at the start of the course, and marriage during training is strictly prohibited. This condition promotes focus and commitment throughout the training period.
AFCAT 2 Selection process
The AFCAT selection process comprises several stages. Firstly, there is a written test consisting of 100 questions, with a maximum score of 300. The examination is conducted online, with a duration of 2 hours. Negative marking is applicable, with one mark deducted for each incorrect answer. Candidates who qualify the written test proceed to the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) interview round.
Finally, candidates who clear the AFSB interview undergo a medical examination. The medical examination is conducted at designated centers, specifically the Institute of Aviation Medicine in Bengaluru and the Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME).
