New York to go from sun to showers

It’ll be a mixed bag for New Yorkers this Memorial Day Weekend.

The Big Apple and surrounding areas will enjoy sunshine and warm temperatures until Sunday evening when rain is expected to move into the region — and put a damper on Memorial Day.

“Unfortunately it does look like there is going to be rain in the area on Monday for the actual holiday,” Fox Forecast Center Meteorologist Stephanie van Oppen told The Post on Friday.

While storms are expected to shower the tri-state region Monday, the forecast for Saturday and Sunday remains clear, presenting the perfect conditions to head outside.

“The good news is that on Saturday and Sunday, we’re looking at temps in the 80s and it should be mostly sunny or partly cloudy,” van Oppen added.

The scattered showers are expected to move into the region Sunday evening and last through Monday’s holiday — with rain and thunderstorms also expected in Connecticut and New Jersey.

“Rain will move in late Sunday night. It will come from the East in the early overnight hours and last through the day on Monday,” van Oppen said.

While some rainstorms may put a damper on the unofficial start to summer, temperatures are expected to remain in the 70s throughout the day.

“It might not be rain all the time for everyone, it looks like broken thunderstorms, but it does look pretty likely that we’ll have a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning as well as the afternoon,” van Oppen said.
