Perth influencer Lauren Curtis reveals partner Reece Daniel’s liver disease is getting worse

Perth-based influencer Lauren Curtis has shared a heartbreaking update on her partner’s gruelling health battle.

The 31-year-old — with more than 1.1 million followers — took to Instagram stories on Sunday night to answer questions from followers, revealing her partner Reece Daniel’s liver disease was getting worse.

Curtis responded to a question about whether Daniel had gained his strength back, to which she replied: “Yes and no, his liver disease is getting worse so he doesn’t have the energy he used to to work out, but he still stays fit from work and the stuff he does around the house.

“He’s in a limbo period where he’s not sick enough for a liver transplant, but he’s sick enough that it’s likely around the corner.”

In another story, Curtis revealed Daniel was also suffering from ulcerative colitis (UC) — a chronic bowel disease that usually affects people who suffer from chronic liver disease, known as primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC).

A follower questioned: “Is Reece’s liver disease a secondary to the UC? How is the UC?”

“They were actually diagnosed at the same time, but they go hand in hand. Unfortunately if you have PSC liver disease you’re likely to have bowel disease. His UC isn’t a cause for concern right now — his PSC and UC usually take turns,” she explained.

“His UC was really bad for years and his liver wasn’t causing any issues. Then his UC went into remission and his PSC went nuts (which is when he got really sick last year).”

Curtis added that his liver is deteriorating from scarring which is why he will need a transplant soon.

The lifestyle influencer shared that she has not been coping well with his health situation.
