Michael Mosley: Initial post-mortem results suggest no suspicious circumstances, UK media reports

An initial post-mortem investigation into the death of Dr Michael Mosley says he died of natural causes, it is reported.

The TV doctor and healthy eating advocate was found dead on the Greek island of Symi on Sunday morning local time after an extensive search by emergency services and members of the public was launched after he went missing on Wednesday.

Mosley had been on the island with his wife, Dr Clare Bailey, when he went for a walk on a 37C Wednesday afternoon and never returned.

Police spokesperson Konstantia Dimoglidou told the BBC the initial post-mortem results did not suggest he died under suspicious circumstances.

They said Mosley was not found with any injuries, that are believed to have led to his sudden death.

He died around 4pm on Wednesday they said. He left St Nicholas beach around 1.30pm local time on the same day, where he set off on a walk towards to the town of Pedi before catching a bus back to his villa.

CCTV footage taken in Pedi at about 2pm showed him heading for the mountains instead.

It comes after the Press Association reported that CCTV from a nearby bar where he was found showed him collapsing near a fence line in the rocky terrain.

A backpack belonging to Mosley was found around six metres up a hill from his body.

A police spokesman confirmed the body was found on a rocky coast by a private boat and an umbrella was also found close to the body.
