Opening a new boutique at South Coast Plaza, the luxury house of Lanvin, now in the hands of the Chinese Fosun group, which also owns the Club Med brand, is entering a new stage in its turnaround, after coming close to bankruptcy in 2017.

Very popular with Asian consumers, South Coast Plaza is now home to the brand-new Lanvin boutique architecture concept revealed last summer in New York with the opening of a Madison Avenue flagship on New York City’s Upper East Side.
For this new address, Lanvin called on Belgian architect Bernard Dubois and his neo-modernist aesthetic. After boutiques in Shenzhen, Riyadh and Madison Avenue, South Coast Plaza is the fourth store to open with Dubois’ bold vision of a retail architecture for Lanvin.

“Drawing inspiration from the Neoclassical and Art Deco movements — two periods integral to the house’s heritage – Dubois has established a new vocabulary for the architecture and interiors of Lanvin”, said the brand.
“Elements of classical architecture including enfilades, symmetries, columns and architraves are carefully interpreted throughout. Ornamentation is spare and precise. The result is a majestic context for the renewed exuberance and chic of France’s oldest continually operating couture house”.
The South Coast Plaza boutique, spanning 1,540 square feet, showcases environmentally friendly elements, including a natural clay-based material, marmorino, that recalls the landscapes of southern France. Embracing principles of circular economy and energy conservation, recyclable aluminum panels and next generation lighting feature throughout. Other materials include limestone, oxidized and hammered brass, and beige velvet, creating a rich panoply of textures across a restrained tonal palette.

The opening of this new boutique in California corresponds to a strategy “that targets new opportunities to present the new universe of the house in a unique and dynamic way through women’s fashion, men’s fashion and all product categories”, said Siddhartha Shukla, Lanvin’s deputy managing director. “The expansion is calculated – we are interested in establishing quality long-term points of sale, not just quick wins. And we are fortunate to have partners like the owners and operators of South Coast Plaza, who understand the singular proposition of Lanvin and have welcomed us within the shopping center as the brand evolves and business grows”.
Lanvin South Coast Plaza opened its doors on level one and propose a curated selection of women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, leather goods and accessories, footwear, and dedicated spaces for Lanvin Lab and Edition Soir, a perennial collection of men’s and women’s evening wear and accessories.
Lanvin currently operates U.S. boutiques at Madison Avenue NY, Soho NY, Beverly Hills CA, Las Vegas NV, Bal Harbour FL, Miami Design District FL and, in 2024, expanded its presence with this new boutique at South Coast Plaza, California.
