Meanwhile, following the cancellation of the UGC NET June 2024 examination, student organizations have criticized the move. They have announced plans for protests, calling for the dissolution of the agency and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The Ministry of Education decided to cancel the test held on June 18 due to information received regarding cybercrime.

Sharing a post on Instagram, Students’ Federation of India (SFI) wrote, “SFI vehemently condemns the atmost irresponsibility of NTA And Ministry of education in conducting national examinations. They’ve being doing a mockery of the entire education system since the inception of NTA.”

“Cancellation of the NET exam will also jeopardise the chances PhD admission of a large number of students this year. The universities should be directed to conduct separate examinations without NET being a criterion to the PhD positions. The NTA’s capacity to guarantee impartial and secure examinations is seriously compromised by these repeated failures. The SFI Central Executive committee condemns the NTA’s mismanagement, which not only ruins the precious time, resources and energy that students have invested in preparation but also creates immense uncertainty and anxiety. This is a flagrant disregard for the aspirations of thousands of aspiring scholars who aspired to pursue careers in research and instruction,” the post further reads.
