Team USA is gearing up for the Olympics after they arrived in Paris with some new threads.
The five-member women’s gymnastics squad—Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Simone Biles, Sunisa Lee, and Hezly Rivera—showed off their patriotic flair at the Team USA Welcome Experience.
USA gymnastics stalwart and Olympic veteran Simone Biles, who will be captaining the team, gave fans a sneak peek into her Parisian stay with Instagram stories of her “Olympic Village” room and the team rocking USA gear.
She also shared a cozy photo of her roommate, Jade Carey, captioned “goodnight roomie @jadecarey.”
In addition to settling into their new surroundings, the team hit the practice floor in matching American flag-themed leotards.
Biles, making her third Olympic appearance, gave a glimpse into the practice session with Instagram photos in which she used three French flag emojis as the caption.
She was met with a flood of well-wishes from fans, former Team USA gymnasts, including McKayla Maroney, and fellow Olympians.
To date, 83 female gymnasts have represented the United States, with a total of 48 Olympic medals –28 of which are gold — across various events.
Biles, who has seven Olympic medals, four of them gold, is poised to make history in Paris as the oldest female gymnast to win an Olympic gold medal.
The 27-year-old aims for redemption after withdrawing from the Tokyo Olympics due to “the twisties”.
Rivera – the 16-year-old Jersey native making her Olympic debut with Team USA – is another gymnast to watch.
Fan-favorite women’s gymnastics begins on July 28 at 5 a.m. ET with the qualification rounds taking place at Bercy Arena.
