I walked several hours a day for a week in these boots and had zero discomfort

After my last pair of walking boots literally fell apart at the top of a mountain, I was extra careful when it came to picking myself a new pair. My priority was finding a pair of boots with sturdy soles I could trust, as it was the sole of one of my previous boots that completely came away as I prepared to make my descent.

I decided to put my faith in Mountain Warehouse’s Adventurer Womens Waterproof Walking Boots, and I’m certainly glad I did. The boots usually cost £69.99, but I got them for £42.99 during the retailer’s summer sale which is still on now.

The walking boots come in sizes three to nine, including half sizes, and are available in several colours and patterns, with the beige and pink catching my eye. I threw the boots in at the deep end, as although I broke them in with a gentle short walk around my village, the first time I took them for a proper spin was on a week-long walking holiday in Northumberland.

Anyone that has explored this area of the UK before knows that the weather can be quite temperamental. While we had some glorious sunny weather, we also had wind and rain, with our soggy trip over to Holy Island really putting the Mountain Warehouse boots to the test.

The first thing I noticed about the walking boots is they are incredibly lightweight. I’ve had boots in the past that have been quite heavy, which makes walking up hills and mountains where you’re required to climb over gates and rocks even more exhausting.

I usually live in Converse, and I have to say the weight difference between the trainers and the boots isn’t much different. Walking boots and slippers are pretty much the complete opposite footwear, but I truly felt like I was wearing a cosy fluffy pair of slipper boots thanks to the inside of the walking boots having soft cushioning.

The soles have plenty of grip, so that even when I was walking over wet terrain, I didn’t slip once. The boots have a moulded foam footbed which supports your foot for added comfort, particularly at the arch and toe, which I could really feel the benefit of when walking along Northumberland’s rocky coastal paths and beaches.

Tackling Holy Island’s cobbled paths in the torrential rain wasn’t an issue, with my trusty Adventurer boots giving me plenty of grip and comfort. As we were walking for several hours a day exploring Northumberland’s villages and landscapes, I thought my feet would get super hot, however this wasn’t the case thanks to the boots having a mesh lining that improves breathability to help keep your feet fresh.

As the holiday was the first real test for the walking boots, I expected to get at least one blister or reddening, especially after the first long walk. However, I had zero discomfort the whole trip, and the footwear really proved to be waterproof as no water got in at all, even in the torrential rain.

I’m not the only person who loves the Mountain Warehouse Adventurer Womens Waterproof Walking Boots, as my mum who accompanied me on my Northumberland holiday also owns a pair of the same boots in the black and leopard print design. While one shopper on the Mountain Warehouse website found the boots to be ‘too big’, they’re a perfect fit for both me and my mum.

If you wanrt treat yourself to a pair of the Mountain Warehouse Adventurer Womens Waterproof Walking Boots, they’re  £42.99 until the sale ends. You can buy the men’s walking boots for the same discounted price of £42.99.
