CHELSEA have handed Raheem Sterling an awkward omen.
The winger’s number could be up at Stamford Bridge – especially now it’s been taken away amid an embarrassing match-day blunder.
Sterling revealed his discontent immediately after the Blues axed him from their first Premier League squad of the season – Sunday’s 2-0 home defeat against Manchester City.
And he might not be too pleased by what happened ahead of Thursday’s Europa Conference League play-off against Servette.
Fans spotted that Chelsea had wrongly listed the 29-year-old at his usual No7 in the squad for the Bridge battle.
That number has instead been given to £54million newcomer Pedro Neto.
The ex-winger was in the startling line-up – with Sterling again not even a sub.
The former England attacker and Trevoh Chalobah were earlier stripped of their numbers.
That’s because boss Enzo Maresca hope to offload a string of players – and deal with a squad of around 21 serious contenders for places.
