Convicted killer of teen Angus Beaumont charged with attempted murder over alleged Brisbane home invasion

A teenager convicted over the stabbing death of a 15-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder within a year of his release from custody.

The 19-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is back behind bars as one of three men accused of trying to kill a 21-year-old man in Zillmere in Brisbane’s north.

The teen was handed a youth detention sentence in February for the manslaughter of Angus Beaumont, who suffered a fatal stab wound to the chest in a carpark in Redcliffe in March 2020.

He was given five-and-a-half-years in detention but granted release after serving half of his term, with time served in pre-sentence custody included.

The exact date of his release from detention is unclear.

Another boy, who was identified as inflicting the fatal wound upon Angus, was found guilty of murder and sentenced to a nine-year detention order with release after serving 60 per cent of the term.

On Monday, the 19-year-old man, a 25-year-old man and a 20-year-old man allegedly forced entry into a home in Zillmere when a gun was allegedly fire “a number of times” at the 21-year-old victim, according to police.

The trio then allegedly fled in a car.

No one was injured in the incident.

Police launched an investigation before arresting the trio during raids on properties in Logan.

They were charged with attempted murder, carrying a gun in public, masking their faces with the intent to commit a crime, break and enter, threating with violence while armed, going armed to cause fear and dangerous conduct with a weapon.

They are believed to be known to their alleged victim.

They were remanded in custody ahead of their next appearance in Brisbane Magistrates Court on September 16.
