Sydney woman wins $150k in gambling game, forgets to eat dinner

A woman has let her food go cold after discovering she won $150,000 in a gambling game, buying the entry just moments before she sat down for dinner at a local club.

The Sydney resident purchased a Keno Classic winning entry at Panthers Penrith Rugby Leagues Club on Saturday, July 8, going into draw 110.

She had just sat down for dinner at the club when she received the shock of her life.

“We were just heading to the pub for dinner, and I put my Keno entry in just prior to sitting down,” she said.

“Well, next thing I knew I looked up and saw my numbers popping up on the screen one by one and my jaw hit the floor.”

The $150,000 prize money came as such a shock that the woman let her food go cold – though she will likely be able to buy many more pub dinners.

“Dinner was served but I couldn’t take a bite,” she said.

“I had butterflies going round in circles in my stomach.

“All I could do was sit and wait for all the games to finish … but when I went up and was told I’d won, I was completely blown away.”

Panthers Penrith Rugby Leagues Club gaming supervisor Shaun Meadows said the result was “fantastic”.

“We always love it when customers win and celebrate with them, so we hope this goes a long way for the winner,” he said.

“Everyone is still amazed.”

The winner plans to put her prize money towards home renovations and is now planning on buying a campervan.

“Who knows, we might take a few months off and just travel around Australia,” she said.

“It’s a wonderful feeling and I’m still struggling to process it.”
