HanesBrands names new CFO

HanesBrands announced on Tuesday that interim chief financial officer Scott Lewis has been appointed chief financial officer, effective immediately.

The owner of the Champion brand said Lewis will also continue in his role as chief accounting officer, a position he has held since 2015.

Joining HanesBrands 17 years ago, with an extensive background in accounting, tax, controllership, and external reporting, Lewis brings more than 25 years of financial leadership experience to the role. In addition to serving as interim CFO from March 2023 to present, Lewis has spent eight years as the company’s CAO.

In that time, Lewis also served as interim CFO from January 2020 through April 2021. Prior to joining HanesBrands, Lewis spent time with KPMG as a senior manager for audit and advisory. 

“Scott has deep knowledge of our business and financial organization and the Board and I are pleased to appoint him to the CFO role on a permanent basis,” said Steve Bratspies, HanesBrands CEO.

With the experience and skill sets he brings, Scott is ideally suited to help position the Company for future success. In its most recent trading update in May, HanesBrands Inc. announced first-quarter sales dropped 12% to $1.39 billion, hindered by a decrease in Champion sales, which took a double-digit decline hit both in the U.S. and internationally.
