Meghan Markle pipped to return to acting in remake of Kevin Costner & Whitney Houston film The Bodyguard

Meghan Markle is being pipped for a return to acting in a remake of a popular 90s film linked to her late mother-in-law Princess Di.

According to Express, the Duchess of Sussex could play the lead role in a remake of the 1992 classic film The Bodyguard.

The original film had the titular bodyguard Frank Farnham enlisted to protect a pop singer named Rachel Marron, played by the late Whitney Houston.

It might be meant to be, as Meghan’s real name is Rachel and the most well-known character she played was Rachel on Suits.

The $160 million Netflix project could save the Meghan and Harry’s $154 million deal with the streaming app.

In another touch of kismet, Princess Di was once talked about to star in a sequel to the original film.

Kevin Costner, who starred in the original film as the titular bodyguard Frank Farmer said in 2012: “The (Bodyguard) studio liked the idea of doing a Bodyguard two” with Princess Di as the new love interest.

Costner even spoke to the Princess on the phone saying she was “incredibly sweet” and she asked if they would have a kissing scene.

“’There’s going to be a little bit of [kissing], but we can make that okay too,” he said.

Princess Di told Costner: “Go ahead and do this script, and when it’s ready I’ll be in a really good spot.”
