Glitz, glamour and lots of sequins — The 63rd annual TV Week Logie Awards saw TV’s biggest stars descend on Sydney’s The Star casino, where all eyes were on Sonia Kruger as she took out the coveted Gold Logie.
It was a close race, but it was Sonia who took out Gold, beating Julia Morris, Hamish Blake, Leigh Sales, Shaun Micallef, Mark Coles Smith and Osher Gunsberg for the prestigious award.
Binge comedy Colin From Accounts was the night’s big winner, picking up a Logie for Best Comedy, as well a silver Logie for Patrick Brammall, who joined wife Harriet Dyer in picking up a gong for the show they co-created together.
Winning the Logie for Most Popular Australian Actress was Kitty Flanagan, who had fellow nominee Julia Zemiro accept the award on her behalf — she was unable to attend due to a pre-planned comedy show in Adelaide.
The Voice judge Amy Shark, who also performed on the night, won the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent.
This year’s ceremony saw The Front Bar and Have You Been Paying Attention star Sam Pang step up to host, the first time the ceremony has had a singular frontman since 2011.
Fans were warned to expect a ‘take no prisoners’ opening monologue, and Pang certainly made good on his promise, with no Aussie TV celebrity safe from his razor-sharp quips.
