Observations from Tuesday’s Jets practice.
Great grab
WR Jason Brownlee made the play of the day, and possibly the catch of the summer.
On an overthrown go-route, he laid out and hauled in a Zach Wilson throw with his right arm outstretched while soaring above cornerback Craig James, Odell Beckham Jr. style.
It continued a strong training camp for the undrafted wideout from Southern Mississippi.
Brownlee did fall awkwardly, and had to leave practice, but it didn’t appear to be a serious injury.
Zach and blue
Wilson had a shaky day, missing several manageable throws from short distances, a bugaboo of his so far as a professional.
The backup quarterback did fire a rocket of a touchdown pass to receiver Malik Taylor over the middle late in practice.
Caught my eye
TE Jeremy Ruckert had a bad drop during red-zone team drills, but atoned for the mistake with a diving catch in the end zone to close out the practice.
Rodgers Report
Aaron Rodgers threw a pair of touchdown passes, one to Ruckert and one to TE C.J. Uzomah, and completed 6 of 11 attempts.
He also showed off his legs, freezing the defense with a pump fake and taking off for a big gain.
After the touchdown pass to Ruckert, Rodgers talked trash to the defense, telling them they had to do push-ups as the losing team.
Injury Report
WR Garrett Wilson (low ankle sprain) remained out, but coach Robert Saleh said he will return for practice on Saturday.
Fellow WR Corey Davis (illness) was back and took part in team drills on a limited basis.
So did DL John Franklin-Myers (groin).
