To absolutely no one’s surprise at all, Hulu’s murder mystery series Only Murders in the Building became a knockout hit as soon as it premiered in 2021. And no, it wasn’t just because of our collective true crime obsession or the fact that Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short are all casually main characters of the show. It also got tonsss of attention because of the chic fashion that was showcased throughout. Ahem: special shout-out to Tie-Dye Guy’s colorful hoodie and pretty much all of Mabel Mora’s (aka Selena’s character) fab outfits, including this gold necklace she wears in a ton of episodes.
If you’ve been trying to recreate Selena’s Only Murderers in the Building outfits, in honor of the first two episodes of season 3 being out now, we gathered a bunch of dupes from her iconic ’fits to make it easier for ya. Ahead, you’ll find affordable pieces that’ll have you looking like you shopped Mabel’s fabulous closet from seasons 1, 2, and 3.
Season 3, Episode 2
The show must go on, right? Selena’s character looks spiffy in a sparkly ensemble that’s giving Bob Fosse meets New Year’s Eve. She tones down the business profesh vibes of her jacket with sequins, sheer tights, and a pair of black stilettos. Sexy!
Season 3, Episode 1
Mabel Mora knows that the key to a chic outfit is a good coat. Her beige trench has the ~style power~ to pull together literally any look, whether it’s a mix of her colorful statement pieces or this preppy sweater vest/button-up combo.
Season 2, Episode 5
All of my dark academia dreams came true the instant I saw Selena in the world’s most perfect argyle (*Taylor Swift voice*) cardigan. It also happens to be the easiest way to turn your usual crop-top-and-jeans combo into a seasonal look as it gets cooler outside.
Season 2, Episode 3
Any outfit that involves chunky loafers is a yes from me. As for her sweater, Selena’s exact from Lisa Says Gah! is currently sold out online, but I found a great checkered dupe that has the same energy—and you can accessorize it with the exact Rellery Marigold necklace that Mabel is rarely seen without.
Season 2, Episode 1
Mabel started off season 2 strong and showed us that she is a style icon. Point-blank period! I mean, this black fur poncho moment?! Incredible. And I happen to have found one super similar that’s l-i-t-e-r-a-l-l-y only $12 on ASOS. Run. Do NOT walk.
Season 1, Episode 1
IYKYK—this outfit became famous as soon as the show started filming back in late 2020. Thank you to the paps for giving us a sneak peek of it a year before OMITB even came out! I will say, this specific look definitely set the bar for the rest of Selena’s looks to come. And let me tell ya, that bar was HIGH. Do you see this orange coat and checkered pant combo she’s got goin’ on?!
Season 1, Episode 2
Nothing screams bad bitch like a red jumpsuit. And somehow, Selena made the look even more standout. Only her!!
You can never go wrong with the pairing of a simple turtleneck and a fun skirt. How effortlessly cute is this black and khaki ensemble? Rock the outfit with or without tights depending on the season. And wear with combat boots if you wanna keep it casual or shiny patent heels for a fancier vibe.
If cozy fashion is your religion, you were probably obsessed with this super-cool confetti knit sweater she had on in the second episode of season 1. Although I wasn’t able to find the exact one she had on (darn!), I did come across a similar-looking one that’s just as vibrant.
Season 1, Episode 3
What’s so great and honestly clutch about a statement knit is that it makes the whole outfit look so put-together without doing the most. Like, this outfit consists of a plain red sweater, some light-wash jeans, and a black belt and it looks fab. More is indeed less!
Season 1, Episode 4
Yeah, our jaws also dropped when we saw this beautiful maroon trench coat bless our screens. And lucky for you, I found one that looks like its identical twin. Plus, it’s on sale rn!
Selena suddenly made us fall in love with orange pants after we saw this getup. What can’t she do?? And if you’re down with the hype, you’ve gotta get yourself a pair STAT…along with a flannel shacket to go with it.
Attention: This show and Mabel Mora slash Selena Gomez have fully convinced me that I need a statement coat in my wardrobe. (BTW: This is your and my sign to invest in one ASAP.) What’s so great about a fashion piece like this is that—like Selena’s character did in the fourth episode of season 1—you can throw it on any monochrome outfit (aka all those all-black ones you’re wearing all the time) to give it some ~spice~ and ~flair~.
Season 1, Episode 7
And she can be business profesh! In episode 7 of season 1, we see Mabel trade in her camp theme for a sleeker aesthetic. Needless to say, she also killed this vibe. This outfit would be perf for a job interview or a dinner date! Nothing like some trousers, booties, and a long coat to do the trick.
Season 1, Episode 10
The academia aesthetic is currently popping off and Selena clearly knows how to work it perfectly. We’re loving everything about this serve—from the cozy top to the plaid mini—er, sans blood, of course.
