Everything is getting smart; smart phones, smart homes, smart cities – and now, even our water bottles are getting the smart treatment.

Thanks to Aquame, a water bottle isn’t simply a way to carry hydration from one place to the next; it can double as a health and fitness coach.

The new Melbourne-designed water bottle – which users say provides “the perfect way to increase your water intake” – doesn’t just remind you to drink water.

The bottles, which come in a range of colours and hold up to 630mL starting from $74.95, are designed to connect to the Aquame app where the user sets their water-intake goals and then monitors their intake status.

The bottle features a rechargeable battery in the LED lid displaying the water’s current temperature and how close the user is to reaching his or her daily water-intake goal.

“Super handy if, like me, you don’t drink enough water in a day,” says one happy customer. “It’s so easy to use… you can put hot or cold drinks in here as it’s a double-walled stainless-steel bottle and you can set up an adjustable alarm clock reminder which I do to remind me to drink water.”

“It’s durable and made from BPA-free materials so you can take it with you wherever you go,” says another reviewer.

The clever water bottle has come at exactly the right time with experts saying the world is currently suffering from an “epidemic of dehydration”.

In Australia, a staggering 8 in 10 adults show symptoms of dehydration, ranging from lethargy, energy loss, headaches, lack of sleep and difficulty concentrating to life-threatening kidney failure.

Aquame water bottle has been a bl**** game changer,” says Wellness Coach and PT Elena Louise.

“Tracking water intake and setting reminder is great way to encourage you to drink more.”

With soccer legends Andrew Nabbout and Archie Thompson on board, the new water bottles are aiming to reshape how people drink water globally.

“Since I started using the Aquame smart water bottle, I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my energy levels and overall wellbeing,” Archie Thompson, former Melbourne Victory and Socceroos player says.

“The hydration tracking function allows me to monitor my water intake accurately… Not only does it remind me to drink water throughout the day, but it also helps me understand how my hydration levels impact my fitness performance and recovery. It’s a complete game-changer!”
