Conan the Chihuahua reunited with owners two months after disappearing

A Chihuahua that had been roaming loose in Perth for two months has been reunited with its owners.

Conan’s owners had feared for its fate after it disappeared in June.

They were reunited after City of Belmont rangers received a report on August 10 about a Chihuahua running loose around Black Swan Island.

A microchip scan revealed the identity of the Chihuahua and its owners and they were soon happily reunited.

City of Belmont CEO John Christie said it demonstrated the importance of pet registration and microchipping.

“We strongly encourage all pet owners to prioritise registering and microchipping their pets,” he said.

“These crucial steps greatly assist in reuniting lost pets with their families and maintaining accurate records, offering peace of mind to both pet owners and our community.”

Impounded animals are kept at the City of South Perth animal care facility and can be made available for rehoming after the mandatory holding period.

As of Tuesday the city was holding a cat and dog whose owners had not been found. Visit the City’s website for details.
