It was meant to be a sweet occasion for the couple, but Robert Irwin hard launching his Perth girlfriend Rorie Buckey with an Instagram photo was instead welcomed with thousands of “creepy” comments.
The comments came after Irwin shared a sweet selfie of the happy pair in front of a blossoming tree — the first time the zookeeper had posted a couple pic.
The selfie triggered many Irwin fan girls, when comments took a turn for the worst, with some fans claiming they were “creepy”.
“Rob this is a weird way to propose to me,” one person wrote.
“My condolences to all the broken hearts in Australia,” said another.
A third person commented: “Gday Rob, the niece is crying thanks mate — anyway cob ooroo”
The comments did not end there, with many saying that their hearts were broken.
“You just broke the hearts of tens of thousands of young girls across the world. Congrats tho,” someone wrote.
Another person said: “Siri play That Should Be Me by Justin Bieber”
On the other end of the spectrum were fans calling the fan girls out for their bizarre statements.
“Why are these comments so creepy? If you can’t be kind, just stop. They look happy, leave them be. And honestly, she’s insanely pretty. You are all just bitter and salty,” someone said.
Prior to the hard launch snap, Irwin would share hints of his girlfriend in Instagram photos that eagle-eyed fans would find.
Recently, he shared a “photo dump” with the third photo in the carousel showing Irwin’s hand and what appears to be a female hand holding small cups of ice cream.
Although it is not clear whose hand is next to his, many believe it is Buckey’s, marking Irwin’s “soft launch” of his lover.
“The softest launch that was ever launched,” one follower commented.
