PM Modi praises teachers’ vital role in shaping India’s future

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep appreciation for the invaluable role of teachers in nurturing the minds of India’s youth. During a meeting with the winners of the National Teachers’ Award 2023 on the eve of Teachers’ Day, PM Modi emphasized the profound impact of dedicated educators in shaping the nation’s future.
PM Modi underscored the significance of instilling curiosity in students, especially regarding science and technology, as the 21st century is marked by rapid technological advancements. He stressed the importance of preparing the youth for the future through skill development.
The Prime Minister encouraged teachers to promote local heritage, culture, and history, urging them to inspire students to explore their regional backgrounds. He celebrated India’s diversity and requested teachers to embrace and showcase the rich cultures from different parts of the country.
Discussing environmental sustainability, PM Modi highlighted the importance of recycling and moving away from the disposable culture, referencing Mission LiFE. Additionally, he commended teachers for their involvement in Swachhata programs in their respective schools.
PM Modi advised teachers to continuously upgrade their skills and knowledge throughout their careers. The National Teachers’ Award recognizes exceptional teachers who have not only enhanced the quality of education but have also positively impacted their students’ lives.
This year, the award’s scope has been expanded to include teachers selected by the Department of Higher Education and Ministry of Skill Development, in addition to those chosen by the Department of School Education and Literacy, demonstrating a broader recognition of educational excellence.
