Global Fashion Agenda (GFA) has released a new online film series called Fashion Redressed. The non-profit organisation, which champions sustainability in the fashion industry, says the “captivating series” intends to “inspire the industry to take action to transform the way we produce and consume fashion”.
Produced by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions, the 11 self-contained branded films showcase a wide range of industry heavyweights including: eBay, Elk, The Ellen MacArthur Foundation, Vestiaire Collective, Spinnova, Lenzing, Faherty, FarFetch, Waste2Wear, Colorifix and Forest Stewardship Council.
“Each film focuses on a bespoke solution that can benefit us and the planet”, says GFA.
Content ranges from the scientist taking inspiration from silk-spinning spiders in Helsinki, taking a deep dive into the genetic make-up of colour in Cambridge, pre-loved clothes being brought to life on a global platform from Paris, and the importance of cultural appreciation in Arizona.
This series “expresses the dynamism and creativity of the fashion world, spotlighting the people weaving change into the fibres of fashion and those who are working to find the stylish side of a more sustainable sector”, GFA adds.
Launched on a BBC.com microsite, the series has been unveiled ahead of GFA’s landmark event, Global Fashion Summit: Boston, on 27 September.
GFA CEO Federica Marchionni says: “Education is a crucial tool to mobilise and inspire the positive transformation of the fashion industry. This series showcases an array of promising solutions through human-centric storytelling. [It] makes me feel optimistic about the opportunities to reinvent fashion, and I hope it will help to influence and accelerate the change that is urgently needed.”
