Toyota is forging ahead with the rollout of its 2024 lineup, and this time, it’s the turn of the popular 4Runner SUV. While the rugged mid-size model remains familiar for the coming model year, Toyota has seen fit to give it a few updates, including two new colors and loads of standard features.

For the 2024MY, the 4Runner will be offered in the SR5, SR5 Premium, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, Limited, and TRD Pro trims. Regardless of what buyers select, the vehicle is powered by a 4.0-liter V6 engine that makes 270 hp (201 kW/274 PS) and 278 lb-ft (377 Nm) of torque. This powertrain allows all trim levels to tow up to 5,000 lbs (2,268 kg).

The first new color added to the 2024 4Runner lineup is called Underground, while the second is exclusive to the TRD Pro trim, and is called Terra. The earth-tone paint plays well against its Black TRD alloy flow-form wheels that are equipped with Nitto Terra Grappler tires.

The TRD Pro goes all-in off-road, with Fox shocks that have piggyback-style remote reservoirs to maintain damping performance over bumpy trails. It also gets a 1/4-inch-thick aluminum skid plate with red TRD lettering and a TRD roof rack.

Meanwhile, the TRD Off-Road trim can be equipped with Toyota’s optional Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, which allows the wheels to travel more at slow speeds, to give it better off-road performance without compromising its ride on the road.

Finally, the 4Runner TRD Sport rounds out the TRD lineup for 2024. While the others are designed for the trail, the TRD Sport is intended for the road. Through the use of a Cross-Linked Relative Absorber System suspension, Toyota says that the TRD Sport enhances on-road handling.

All 2024 models will be equipped with Toyota Safety Sense P, the automaker’s suite of driver assistance technologies that includes pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, sway warning, automatic high beams, high-speed dynamic radar cruise, and more.

Unfortunately, prices and timing for the 2024 model lineup have not yet been revealed.
