IMG announced on Thursday the winners of the Australian Fashion Laureate for 2023, an awards ceremony honouring individuals who have played a significant role in the growth and cultural impact of Australian fashion.
Designer Christopher Esber took home the Designer of the Year award, while Alix Higgins was named Emerging Designer of Year.
Ngali’s Deni Francisco was named Indigenous Designer of the Year, while the Sustainable Innovation of the Year award went to Kit Willow for her luxury fashion brand Kitx.
The Carla Zampatti Award for Excellence in Leadership award was given to Lisa Havila, chief executive of the the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, and Rodney Levis took home the Australian Fashion Laureate for Lifetime Achievement.
“The Australian Fashion Laureate champions the best in Australian fashion and this year’s winners showcase the diversity of skilled creatives and professionals who have contributed to Australian fashion’s cultural and economic impact,” said Natalie Xenita, vice president-managing director of IMG fashion events and properties, Asia-Pacific.
“It’s our privilege to come together in celebration of their accomplishments and leadership in the company of our esteemed peers.”
Australian Fashion Laureate winners were determined by a panel of industry leaders comprised of laureate alumni, fashion journalists, stylists, communications professionals, and top retail executives.
