Olivia Rodrigo and her friends all got matching tattoos in spring 2022, but according to the star, the ink isn’t holding up super great.
In a recent video with Wired, Olivia Rodrigo answered some of the most-searched questions about her, including one about her ink. Apparently, people are wondering if Rodrigo has a tattoo, and while she does, she doesn’t quite classify it as real ink at this point, calling it “debatable.”
At the time, Apatow and Rodrigo chose a simple heart design, and Charli D’Amelio and Avani Gregg got smiley faces in the same spot. According to Rodrigo, the finger tattoo hasn’t lived up to its full potential. “I got a matching tattoo with my best friend Iris [Apatow]. We got hearts on our pinkies, but mine is completely worn off,” she explains. “It doesn’t look like a heart at all. It looks like I smudged Sharpie on my hand.” Rodrigo says that while technically there is some tattoo ink on her hand, she doesn’t “really classify it as a tattoo.” (Ink fades, but friendships hopefully stay, right?)
If you are wondering whether Rodrigo is going to get her little heart touched up, she isn’t. In fact, she’s also hitting the pause button on new tattoos for now. “I think my next tattoo, I’m going to wait until I have kids, and I’ll get their names tattooed on me,” she says.
Another common question Rodrigo answers in the video is about her aesthetic, which she says is a bit of a work in progress. “Some days, I really don’t know,” she says. “I love ’90s grungy things, PJ Harvey’s style, Alexa Chung’s style.” Rodrigo frequently wears ‘90s-inspired outfits, including the Empire Records-esque sweater and skirt she dons in the “bad idea right?” music video and the plaid minidress she got at Chloë Sevingy’s closet sale. But that doesn’t mean she’ll stick to the ’90s-girl vibes forever. “TBD on that one, I feel like I’m ever-evolving.”
