India is land of opportunities, get ready to grab, finance minister Sitharaman exhorts students

VIJAYAWADA: Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that India is the land of opportunities in the world and youth should get ready to grab them with both hands. She announced that 13 prominent foreign startup companies plan to invest in India. She explained that the products of these firms would be manufactured in India and exported abroad. Nirmala Sitharaman addressed the students at the convocation of Vignan University on Monday.
Union finance minister exhorted the students not to confine themselves to employment in software and IT companies saying that there are abundant opportunities in research in areas such as new materials, rare minerals, material science, drone technology, and natural gas technology. “India offers the most opportunities globally. Young brains should make the most of this situation as India has become a global powerhouse,” said Sitharaman.
She highlighted the readiness of the Indian population to embrace new technologies, with widespread internet access and the use of QR codes for payments, even by small businesses. “It’s worth mentioning that more than 68 percent of people in India are open to adopting new technologies, while the global average is just 38 percent. Students should dream big and return to India after their overseas studies, fostering the country’s development,” said Sitharaman. She exuded confidence that India would become a developed nation by 2047, necessitating tenfold growth from the present state.
AP finance minister Buggana Rajendranath said that students should make themselves flexible to avail the opportunities. He said that present generation students are considered most talented and also fortunate as the opportunities were knocking their doors unlike in the past. He asked the students to dedicate themselves till they realise their dreams. University presented honorary doctorates to Dr Subbarao Pavuluri, founder of Ananth technologies, Dr SP Vasireddi, executive chairman of Vimta Labs Limited and Indian grand master Koneru Humpy. Varsity had also presented degrees to about 1820 students.
Dr Subbarao Pavuluri emphasized the importance of positive habits for achieving excellence in various aspects of life, be it academics, career, sports, or the arts. “Individuals who combine a strong academic foundation with these universal skills are well-equipped to confidently navigate their professional journeys and thrive. Key factors contributing to success encompass inquisitiveness, adept time management, mental resilience, and the ability to condense information quickly,” said Dr Subbarao.
Vignan group chairman Dr Lavu Rathaiah said that unwavering determination and persistence in the face of obstacles as they embark on their journey into society with their degrees. He encouraged all students not to become complacent in their current jobs, as numerous opportunities will present themselves in the coming years. Vignan group vice-chairman and MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu observed the incredible power of education as a means to shape a brighter future and impact the world. He asserted that facing challenges and embracing difficulties in life is an essential part of the journey towards success. Vice-chancellor Professor Nagabhushan, registrar Raghunathan and deans were present.
