FRIDAY’S GAMES
ST. BONAVENTURE (7-2, 4-0) VS. OAK CHRISTIAN (7-2, 4-0)
Where, when: Oaks Christian High, 7 p.m.
Analysis: Both teams are comfortably in the playoffs but this game will decide the Marmonte League championship. St. Bonaventure has won six consecutive games and is coming off a 42-21 win over Calabasas. Senior quarterback Anthony Wolter has been excellent since returning from injury with 759 yards and nine touchdowns in three games. Koen Glover ran for 99 yards with two touchdowns last week against Calabasas and DJ Doss added 110 receiving yards with a score. Oaks Christian has scored at least 45 points in each of its last four games. Baylor commit Nate Bennett threw for 342 yards with four touchdowns last week in a win over Simi Valley. Stanford commit Chase Farrell had 254 yards receiving with three touchdown receptions and Stevie Amar had two touchdown catches. St. Bonaventure has won the last two meetings between the two teams.
MOORPARK (8-1, 4-1) VS. AGOURA (7-2, 3-2)
Where, when: Agoura High, 7 p.m.
Analysis: Moorpark can clinch a share of the Canyon League championship with a win in this game. Agoura sits in fourth place and could fall into a tie for fourth place with Camarillo with a loss. The Chargers lost to league champion Thousand Oaks 31-7 last week. Agoura had just 142 yards of total offense in the loss and the lone score was a touchdown pass from Harrison Novak to Zeke Bussiere. Bussiere also led the defense with 14 tackles. Luke Cochran ran for 133 yards with two touchdowns for Moorpark in its win over Camarillo last week. Elijah Hensley threw for 223 yards with three touchdowns in the win. Jayden Gray led the Moorpark defense with an interception and a forced fumble. Moorpark has won four of the last five meetings between the two schools.
VALENCIA (8-1, 5-0) VS. CANYON (6-3, 2-3)
Where, when: College of the Canyons, 7 p.m.
Analysis: Valencia has clinched a share of the Foothill League title and a win would give the Vikings the outright league championship. If Canyon wins, it would move into a tie for fourth place with the loser of the game between Hart and Castaic. Jackson Askins earned Daily News Boys Athlete of the Week honors after throwing for 298 yards with four total touchdowns against Hart last week. Tony Testa had three sacks for Valencia’s defense and Luke Cruz had two interceptions. Jeremiah Taylor had 120 yards receiving and two rushing touchdowns for Canyon last week in its win over Saugus. Taylor also had an interception on defense and Dane Lawler had 11 tackles. Canyon has not beaten Valencia since 2006 when former BYU running back JJ DiLuigi ran for five touchdowns.
CHAMINADE (5-4, 2-2) VS. SIERRA CANYON (9-0, 3-0)
Where, when: Sierra Canyon High, 7 p.m.
Analysis: Sierra Canyon can clinch its first perfect regular season since 2016 with a win. Dane Dunn had two rushing touchdowns for the Trailblazers in a win over second-place Serra last week. Wyatt Becker threw for 185 yards with two passing touchdowns and a rushing score. USC commit Marquis Gallegos had an interception and sophomore Madden Riordan added an interception. Chaminade had four turnovers in its loss to Bishop Amat last week. Seth Shigg threw for 172 yards and ran for 81. Chris Champion had two sacks and a forced fumble on defense and Ishmael Gibbs grabbed his third interception in two games. Four Chaminade players recorded double-digit tackles last week with Ian Howard leading the way with 15. Sierra Canyon will likely earn a top-four seed in the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs with a win in this game.
