Friends star Matthew Perry dies in alleged drowning in LA home: report

Friends star Matthew Perry has died, aged 54, in an alleged drowning at his Los Angeles home.

According to reports by gossip website TMZ, Perry was found in a jacuzzi in his home after emergency workers responded to a call for a cardiac arrest.

TMZ reported there was no foul play involved, and it is believed there were no drugs found at the scene.

The outlet reported that Perry had been discovered unresponsive by his assistant, who called emergency services.

Perry was most famous for his role as Chandler Bing in the hit 90s sitcom Friends, which ran for 10 seasons and 234 episodes.

Born in Massachusetts in 1969, Perry moved to Los Angeles when he was 15 to pursue acting.

Amid a series of guest roles on TV shows in the late 80s and 90s, Perry joined the cast of Friends as its youngest member.

The success propelled Perry and the rest of the cast, including Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt Le Blanc and David Schwimmer, into international stardom, and the series ran from 1994 to 2004.

By 2002, the show’s popularity saw the cast being paid more than $1 million an episode.
