terrorism: “Don’t travel by Air India, your life will be in danger”: Khalistani leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun issues threat, security concerns arise

A concerning video has emerged featuring Khalistani leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, in which he issues a threat to individuals planning to travel via Air India on November 19. Pannun’s ominous message warned that their “lives would be in danger.”

“We are asking the Sikh people not to fly via Air India on November 19. There will be a global blockade. On November 19, don’t travel by Air India or your life will be in danger,” Pannun stated as per a video doing rounds on social media.

Furthermore, Pannun made claims that Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport would be closed on November 19 and that its name would be changed. Notably, this date coincides with the final match of the ongoing cricket World Cup.

It is important to highlight that Pannun, the chief of the banned US-based Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) outfit, has been under the radar of India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) since 2019. The NIA had filed its first case against him, accusing him of promoting and commissioning terrorist activities and spreading fear and terror in Punjab and other parts of India through threats and intimidation.

Non-bailable arrest warrants were issued against Pannun by a special NIA court on February 3, 2021, and he was declared a “Proclaimed Offender” (PO) on November 29 last year.

This alarming video message from Pannun raises serious security concerns and necessitates vigilance and action from law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of the public(The credibility of this video has not been verified by Economic Times)
