From Haryana to DC: Garima Nain selected as a Research Analyst at World Bank

ROHTAK: Garima Nain, a Rohtak resident who completed her secondary and senior secondary education in Jind and Rohtak, achieved a significant milestone by securing a position as a Research Analyst at the World Bank in Washington, DC. Garima’s parents, Sandeep Nain, a government school principal, and Sangita, also a principal, express pride in their daughter’s accomplishments.
Garima pursued her undergraduate studies in B.A.Economics (Honors) at Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi, followed by a master’s degree in science from the Gokhale Institute of Politics & Economics in Pune. She further pursued an M.A. in International and Development Economics fromYale University in the USA.
“Since receiving acceptance into the master’s program at Yale University, I have harboured the desire to work at the World Bank and contribute to the research and policy space,” shared Garima. Despite never envisioning studying or working abroad, she decided to redefine her life and pursue significant opportunities during the COVID lockdown.
The 27-year-old emphasized breaking stereotypes by Haryana girls, showcasing their prowess in diverse fields, including sports and academics. “Parents should never hesitate to support their daughters in grabbing every possible opportunity in the country and abroad,” she added.
Garima elaborates on her new role at the World Bank, stating, “My job at the World Bank in Washington, DC, will involve working on projects of the Africa Gender Innovation Lab project in Nigeria.”
