Candidates who are shortlisted in the prelims examination, qualify to the second stage of recruitment process- SBI PO Main exam.
When can we expect the SBI PO Mains exam to be held?
The SBI Probationary Officer recruitment exam stage 2 is scheduled to be held on the December 5, 2023. Similar to the SBI PO prelims exam, the admit card for the Mains exam is expected to be released a week before the commencement date.
Much like the online computer-test based (CBT) format of the prelims exam, the SBI PO Mains will also be held in an online mode.
It is important to remember that the Phase 1 – Prelims is only a Phase 2 (Main Exam) and Phase 3 (Interview or Group Exercises) are the basis for the final selection of candidates. When creating the final merit list for selection, the scores from the preliminary exam are excluded. Let’s look at the SBI PO 2023 final selection process in the table below.
SBI PO Final Selection Criteria | |||
Test | Main Exam | GD/ Interview | Total |
Maximum Marks | 250 | 50 | 300 |
Normalized Marks | 75 | 25 | 100 |
Candidates’ marks in the Main Examination (out of 250) and Interview/Group Exercises (out of 50) are converted to a total of 100 marks (75 and 25, respectively). The final merit list is generated based on these aggregated marks out of 100. Selection will be determined by the top-ranked candidates in each category.
What are the different selection stages?
After the completion of the Prelims examination, shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for the SBI PO Mains exam.
The mains examination consists of two sections: the objective test (for 200 marks) and the descriptive test (for 50 marks). The objective test covers subjects like Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis and Interpretation, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, and English Language. The descriptive test, worth 50 marks, includes questions on English, specifically Letter Writing and Essay Writing.
Upon completion and result declaration of the SBI PO Mains, a merit list will be created by the examination authority, through which candidates who have been shortlisted for the third stage will be announced. This will be the SBI PO Selection Process’s final phase. Those who pass the main exam will receive an invitation to a group discussion, which will be followed by an interview. The candidates will be chosen solely on the basis of their performance in the Main Exam and in the Group Discussion/Interview.
