Eskimo Joe frontman Kav Temperley will be among a line-up of local talent performing at a free concert in Yangebup this Saturday.
As well as the voice behind hits like Black Fingernails, Red Wine, Sarah and Love is a Drug, local artists Riley Pearce, Noah Dillon, Siobhan Cotchin and Joan & The Giants will also take the stage at Nicholson Reserve as part of the City of Cockburn’s Beeliar Sun Sets free concert series.
Temperley said all artists — no matter how big or successful — got a start performing at community gigs such as Beeliar Sun Sets. They often gave musicians a first taste of outdoor festivals and audiences an early chance to hear the next big thing.
“When it comes to live music, Perth punches well above its weight for such a small city,” he said.
“It’s super important to get out there and celebrate original live local music in WA.”
Cockburn mayor Logan Howlett said Beeliar Sun Sets was a “fresh take” on concerts previously put on free by the council.
“The new event name acknowledges the traditional owners, the Beeliar Nyungar people,” Mr Howlett said.
“The line-up for the free concert is absolutely world class and we’re looking forward to bringing some amazing West Australian talents to Yangebup’s backyard.”
Beeliar Sun Sets will also take place on February 17 at Success Regional Sporting Facility.
