X users mock PA after Gayton McKenzie fails to fill stadium

South African political party the Patriotic Alliance (PA) — led by ex-convict Gayton McKenzie — celebrated their 10th birthday on Saturday 25 November. Hoping to follow in the footsteps of the Economic Freedom Fighters who held a successful celebration at the FNB stadium months ago, the PA planned a big birthday celebration at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned for Gayton who found himself addressing a rather small crowd which barely managed to fill one section of the stadium.

Heading online after the “flopped” event, Gayton apologised to his supporters while explaining that thousands couldn’t make due to broken down busses and other problems with food and water supplies.

Both Gayton and the PA have since faced extensive trolling online as voters start to question his organisation.

X users mock PA’s flopped stadium bash

Earlier this year, Julius Malema impressed even his enemies after successfully hosting a 10 birthday bash for the EFF.

Photos and videos from the historic event flooded the internet as locals discussed how successful it had been.

Even political opponent Gayton McKenzie headed online to give Malema his flowers.

Taking to X, the PA leader shared his own plans for a bash at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as expected for Gayton who, unlike Malema, was greeted by an empty stadium and a ton of poorly executed event planning.

Swallowing his pride following the event flop, Gayton headed online to apologise to his followers. He also shared plans for another bash.

“I am sad for all of you and understand the anger and disappointment. We have had 20 000 people, according to JOC, that entered the stadium but due to food, drink and logistics, they left to get food and were prevented from returning back to the stadium,” he said according to IOL.

Despite his apology, he facing a lot of trolling from social media users who predicted the flop.

“The camera personnel tried to give them good angles. But I live here. I saw that dismal failure. I even met peeps from Midrand who were just loaded into the bus early in the morning with a hangover from Friday night not knowing where they’re going… some buying from Somali shops”
