Watch shocking vision of Brandon Lee Kelly’s arrest after car slams into innocent driver in a wrong-way crash

Brandon Lee Kelly was trying to escape police from a violent machete attack when the car he was in drove onto the wrong side of the road, slamming head-on into another car.

The 30-year-old who allegedly slashed a woman across the back of the head with a machete before leading police on a chase that landed an innocent mother and her baby in hospital has been charged with a string of crimes.

The shocking CCTV footage shows Kelly’s unlicensed driver moving onto the wrong side of the road and narrowly missing two cars before slamming head on into an Hyundai Tucson.

The pair also hit a Mazda they were passing before spinning out of control and hitting a Mitsubishi Outlander.

After the car comes to a halt Kelly still tries to make a run for it but his broken legs give way. The driver also suffered multiple broken bones.

Kelly was arrested alongside his driver at the scene. St John Ambulance worked on Kelly for 30 minutes before taking him to Royal Perth Hospital.

He underwent surgery on Wednesday.

Police Commissioner Col Blanch backed the decision for police to chase Kelly.

“It is a high risk manoeuvre but I support the officers that have made that decision but also our thoughts and our hearts go out to that innocent motorist,” he said.

Kelly is accused of breaking into the Butler home of a woman known to him on Tuesday morning armed with a machete and pursuing her with it when she tried to flee.
